Question 1

Should I download PNG or SVG?

Accepted Answer

PNG works everywhere: documents, slides and social posts. SVG is a vector image that stays sharp at any size and can be edited in Figma, Illustrator or Inkscape, which makes it the better choice for print and websites.

Question 2

What do the three styles look like?

Accepted Answer

Bars draws bars that rise from the bottom edge. Mirrored draws bars centered on a middle line, like most podcast players. Line draws one filled shape that is the same above and below the middle.

Question 3

Can I make the background transparent?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Transparent background is on by default. Turn it off to pick a background color instead.

Question 4

How large can the image be?

Accepted Answer

From 300 to 4000 pixels wide and 50 to 1000 pixels high. For the bar styles you can also choose from 20 to 600 bars.

Question 5

Why does a quiet recording fill the whole image?

Accepted Answer

The waveform is scaled so the loudest moment reaches the full height. That shows the shape of any recording clearly, but it means you can't compare how loud two files are from their images.

Question 6

Can I make an animated waveform video?

Accepted Answer

No. The tool makes a still image of the whole file, not a video that moves with the sound.

Question 7

Is my audio uploaded?

Accepted Answer

No. The waveform is drawn in your browser, so the audio never leaves your device.
