Which tags can I edit?

Title, Artist, Album, Genre, Year, Track number and Comment, plus the cover art. The fields are filled in with the tags the file already has, so you only change what is wrong.

How do I add album art to an MP3?

Drop the MP3, choose a JPG or PNG image under Cover art and press Save tags. If you don't choose an image, the cover the file already has is kept.

Is the audio re-encoded when I save?

No. When you save in the same format as your file, the audio is copied over untouched and only the tags change, so the sound and the bitrate stay exactly as they were. Only a change of format, like WAV to FLAC, encodes the audio again.

Can I edit the tags of a WAV file?

WAV has no standard place for these tags, so a WAV file is saved as FLAC by default. FLAC is lossless, so the sound stays exactly the same and the file gets smaller. Choose MP3 under Save as if you need an MP3.

Why does my music app still show the old title?

Music apps like Apple Music and Windows Media Player keep their own copy of the tags. Remove the old file from the library and add the new one, and the new tags show up.
