What is 8D audio?

8D audio is a song edited so the sound moves slowly from one ear to the other and back, with some room reverb added. With headphones, it seems to circle around your head.

Do I need headphones?

Yes. The effect works because each ear hears a different level. On a phone speaker or one Bluetooth speaker, both sides mix together and the movement mostly disappears.

What do the settings change?

One circle every sets how long the sound takes to travel from one side to the other and back, from 2 to 20 seconds. 8 seconds is the default, and faster speeds feel more dizzying. Room sets how much reverb is added, from 0 to 60%.

Is this real 3D or spatial audio?

No. It pans the sound smoothly between left and right and adds reverb. It doesn't use head tracking or the binaural processing of Dolby Atmos or Apple Spatial Audio, so the sound moves side to side rather than in front of or behind you.

Does it work with mono recordings?

Yes. The result is always stereo, so even a mono file moves between your ears.

Why is the file 2 seconds longer?
