What is the difference between echo and reverb?

An echo is a distinct repeat of the sound that you can hear separately, like shouting in a canyon. Reverb is thousands of reflections blended into one wash of sound, like singing in a hall. For reverb, use Add Reverb to Audio.

What do the three settings do?

Delay is the time between repeats, from 0.05 to 1.5 seconds. Repeats sets how loud each repeat is compared to the one before, so higher values echo longer. Echo level sets how loud the echoes are next to the original sound.

How do I make a slapback echo?

Set Delay to about 0.1 seconds and Repeats to 0%. You get one short echo right after each sound, the classic effect on rockabilly vocals and guitar.

How do I time the echo to the beat of a song?

Divide 60 by the song's tempo in BPM to get the length of one beat in seconds. At 120 BPM that is 0.5 seconds. The BPM Finder can tell you the tempo.

Time is added at the end so the last echoes can play out: eight times the delay, up to 10 seconds.
