How do I trim the beginning and end of an MP3?

Drop the MP3, drag the left handle to where the audio should start and the right handle to where it should end, then press Trim. Everything outside the highlighted range is dropped. For an exact cut, type the times into the Start and End boxes, which move in 0.1 second steps.

Can I trim the sound from a video?

Yes. Drop an MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV video and the trimmer works on its sound track. The download is an audio file (M4A for MP4 and MOV), not a shorter video.

Will trimming lower the quality?

WAV and FLAC stay lossless. MP3, M4A and OGG files are decoded and encoded again, so choose 192 kbps or higher to keep the difference inaudible. The output format starts out the same as your file, and you can change it.

Can I add a fade to the trimmed clip?

Turn on Fade in and out. It adds a 0.5 second fade at the start and a 1.5 second fade at the end, so the clip doesn't start or stop abruptly.
