Yes. Choose Every N seconds and set the length of each part, from 5 seconds up to 10 minutes. The last part holds whatever is left, so it can be shorter.

How does splitting at silences work?

The tool looks for pauses quieter than the Silence below level that last at least the Shortest pause. Each stretch of sound between two pauses becomes a part, and the silent gaps are left out. It suits an album or a set of songs recorded as one file.

Splitting at silences gave me too many parts. What can I change?

Accepted Answer

Raise Shortest pause so only longer gaps count, such as the 2 to 3 seconds between songs. You can also lower Silence below so quiet passages inside a song aren't mistaken for gaps.

What format are the parts saved in?

Accepted Answer

The same format as your file by default, so an MP3 gives MP3 parts and a WAV gives WAV parts. The sound from an MP4 or MOV video is saved as M4A. You can pick another format and quality before splitting.
