- 2Move the selection to the part you want; it can be up to 30 seconds long.
- 3Keep M4R as the format, press Make ringtone and download the file.
How to put an M4R ringtone on your iPhone
With a Mac (Finder)
- Connect the iPhone to the Mac with a cable and unlock it.
- Open Finder and select the iPhone in the sidebar.
- Drag the M4R file onto the iPhone window. It is copied to the phone as a ringtone.
With a Windows PC (iTunes)
- Connect the iPhone and open iTunes.
- Click the iPhone button near the top left of the window.
- Drag the M4R file onto On My Device in the sidebar. It appears under Tones.
On the iPhone only (GarageBand)
- Choose M4A as the format above, make the ringtone and save it to the Files app.
- In GarageBand, start an Audio Recorder project, switch to the tracks view, open the Loop Browser, then Files, and drag the clip onto a track. If the clip gets cut short, tap the + above the tracks and turn on Automatic for Section A.
- Go back to My Songs, touch and hold the project, tap Share, then Ringtone, name it and tap Export.
Set it as your ringtone
On the iPhone, open Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Ringtone. Your new ringtone is listed at the top, above the built-in ones. You can also assign it to a single contact from that contact's page in the Contacts app.
